Are you lucky enough to live in Paradis?

There are more rumours about Rennes-le-Château than probably any other site in France, if not the world!

A small village perched on a peak opposite your plateau, Rennes-le-Château has inspired many books, some purportedly based on fact and some fiction (The Da Vinci Code).  Treasure, secrets, murder, crypts, wealth, history and blackmail all play their part in the intertwining stories that generally allude to the fact that Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene were exiled to this area and had a family.

In 1885, Bérenger Saunière became priest of Rennes-le-Château and our preferred story, based on conversations with the "locals", is that he discovered hidden papers that provided evidence of the "Royal" bloodline and subsequently blackmailed the Catholic Church.  In return he received favours (they turned a "blind" eye to some of his unorthodox activities) and money with which he renovated the Church and built himself a stunning home.

A popular tourist attraction, Rennes-le-Château hosts a museum dedicated to Saunière and guided tours around his house, grounds and the Church.  There are numerous restaurants, shops and walks.  The views from Rennes-le-Château are as stunning as the views of it from your home on Domaine de Garenaud.
